"GIANT'S HOMETOWN OF ZHONGSHAN"
ZHONGSHAN is a prefecture-level city in the south of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, the important waterway that connects Guangzhou with Hong Kong and Macau. Covering an area of 1,800 square kilometers (about 695 square miles), the city was originally a county renamed in honour of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (also known as Sun Zhongshan), the "Father of modern China". Red Military Museum
It covers an area of 20 acres, more than 2,000 pieces of military equipments are displayed there, such as China's first atomic bomb, a collection of aircrafts, tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery, guns and ammunition.
Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen
Located about 30 kilometres from Zhongshan in Cuiheng town. This is a two-storey building that is a blend of traditional Chinese and modern western styles. A specialty of this building is that it was designed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen himself. Within the building, there is an exhibition hall, which has display many arts and artifacts that throw light on the life of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
Cuiheng Village
The village was established in the latter half of the 17th century. Situated 17.6 kilometres southeast of downtown Zhongshan. It is the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
"ROMANTIC CITY - ZHUHAI"
ZHUHAI is one of the original Special Economic Zones established in the 1980s located on the southern coast of Guangdong province. Zhuhai's attractive environment and surrounding landscapes help its reputation within China as a garden city and its quality of life. Hence the city attracted millions of tourists a year. Popular attractions include Statue of Fisher Girl, Lover's Road, Meixi Stone Archways and Face-changing show.
Statue of Fisher Girl & Lover's Road
The main tourist attraction in the Zhuhai city is the Statue of Fisher Girl located at the scenic Xianglu Bay along Lover's Road in which is the landmark of Zhuhai. The Fisher Girl holds a pearl high in the air with both hands, admiring its bright luster that also symbolizes the brightness of Zhuhai.
Meixi Stone Archways
The Meixi Stone Archways is located at Meixi Village in Qianshan town, Zhuhai City. It occupies 126,000 square meters. Today, only three stone archways remain, which were built by Guangxu Emperor in 1886 and 1891 in honor of Cheng Fang and his families. The stone archways are built from granite. It combines the architectural art of the east and west, and has many wonderful engravings.
Face Changing Show
The face changing, or "bian lian" in Chinese, is an important aspect of Chinese Sichuan opera. Performers wave their arms and twist their heads, and their painted masks change again and again. Face changing began 300 years ago, during the reign of the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). The show performs everyday in the Meixi Theatre.
