Celebrated on the 8th day of the fourth moon (17th May 2013), the annual Cheung Chau Bun Festival is one of the most remarkable festivals you'll ever witness. One of the reputed origins of this popular festival, which attracts huge crowds every year, involved a plague on the island hundreds of years ago. The tour begins with a leisurely cruise to Cheung Chau in the comfort of a chartered boat. On Cheung Chau, visit the century-old Pak Tai Temple to see the huge bun towers before savouring a vegetarian lunch at a Chinese restaurant. Then, watch the colourful Bun Festival Parade from the official grandstand. |

BUN TOWER & PAK TAI TEMPLE |
| |
Much of the festivities take place in front of the Pak Tai Temple where offerings are made to the Taoist deity Pak Tai, the Ruler of the Dark Heaven. It is here that three huge 16-metre tall conical towers covered in white lucky buns are erected. It is believed that these buns can bring good health to families. |

VEGETARIAN LUNCH |
| |
Tradition dictates that for three days of the festival, the entire island goes vegetarian; most of the island's famous seafood restaurants adhere to this tradition. |

BUN FESTIVAL PARADE |

The highlight of the entire festival, however, is the colourful parade. It is a swirl of colours as lion dancers, kung fu club members and Taoist priests in traditional dress wind their way along the island's narrow streets. |
